As part of moving up day, at the end of Year 5. I set my new class the challenge of growing their own sunflower over the summer holidays. Four children were successful in growing their plant and bringing it back into school. Subsequently the whole class has helped to nurture and care for the class plants. Having these plants in the classroom has created a calm and bright learning environment and the children have enjoyed watching the plants grow, change and develop over the weeks we have been back at school. The purpose of this task was to highlight to the children that they are resilient and can achieve anything when they put their mind to it. What a great way to start Year 6!
